Pareto Energy Services

Pareto Energy is a global pioneer in the design, development and financing of Microgrid technology. The firm, based in Washington, DC, works with cities, leading real estate developers and investors, Fortune 500 companies, and state and local governments to create local power systems that utilize renewable energy technologies for more reliable and energy efficient power sources.

Pareto Energy develops urban peer-to-peer power networks, known as Microgrids. Microgrids digitally monitor, manage and control sustainable energy resources located at or near their point of use. Pareto Energy invents Microgrid power control technology, designs Microgrid architecture, and arranges Microgrid project financing, operation and maintenance.

To develop the market for Microgrids, Pareto Energy establishes public-private partnerships known as Energy Improvement Districts (“EIDs”). Leveraging the financial and regulatory benefits of EIDs along with the environmental benefits of clean, sustainable locally based power generation, Pareto helps cities and clients obtain accelerated permitting, community buy-in, and the highest possible LEED certification. For cities looking to capitalize on the green incentives currently offered by the government for infrastructure improvement, the projects and services offered by Pareto are invaluable.

Pareto Energy has invented a patent-pending technology known as GridLink that serves as the interface between the inherited infrastructure of the “macrogrid” and the multiple renewable energy resources of emerging Microgrids. Integrating renewable energy resources into the existing utility grid has been an expensive, tediously long, and sometimes impossible procedure. GridLink overcomes this with a straight forward plug-and-play process. For cities looking to “go green” and conserve wasted energy, Pareto provides the services and technology needed for all stages of an energy improvement project.

Pareto helps developers obtain available incentives and subsidies from all levels of government and from private foundations. We leverage the environmental advantages of EIDs and Local Power to obtain accelerated permitting, community buy-in, and the highest possible LEED certification. For cities looking to capitalize on the green incentives currently offered by the government to improve their infrastructure for years to come, the projects offered by Pareto are invaluable.

Pareto provides multiple routes to financing for energy infrastructure. Independent project financing for all CHP and renewable energy related equipment and installation can be based on a power-purchase agreement with the tenant or the site owner. Larger-scale EIDs can use innovative tax-exempt financing similar to municipal bonds. Real Estate Investment Trusts can play a key role in taking assets “off-book” while also folding other energy efficiency and high performance building measures into the same financing package. If desired, Pareto will also apply its expertise in energy procurement management to secure the best possible rates for fuel and for grid electricity (if any is needed).

Pareto can provide additional analyses, assessments, and strategy recommendations based on city needs.
